Your Worth is YOURS

Maybe you aren’t at all like me and you NEVER do this, but do you ever start looking around???

At her and her and her???

Recently I had the opportunity to sit with a bunch of other moms along the soccer sidelines. And I got to hear about what’s going on in their lives. Like, for example, this great new diet my friend is following that lowered their cholesterol and has them all feeling great.

Or my other mom friend who is SUPER fit and loves to play tennis and is constantly playing doubles with her husband.

That got me thinking about the other friend I have who is training for a marathon.

Or my writer friend who manages to work full time, parent her kids, and absolutely KILL it at her little side hustle with a much bigger platform than I have with actual dollars coming in.

Or my sister-in-law who became a yoga instructor and can bend in a million different ways and who looks AMAZING.

Or my friend who homeschools all her kids and cooks from scratch and bakes her own sour dough bread.

And I sorta looked down and around at my own ordinary little life and thought…huh.

Do you ever do that??? Do you ever see all the good and wonderful things other moms are doing and think, “I should be doing ALL of that!!!”

Do you ever let other women’s giftedness become an impossible To Do list for you???

Do you ever let other women’s successes become another measure of how YOU just don’t measure up???

I do that sometimes.

And today I want to give us this gentle reminder…

(Because that’s one thing I AM good at. Noticing the world. And my life. And my feelings about it all. And another one of my gifts is to tell you about what I’m noticing and how I’m feeling with the hope that maybe it will help you, too. And maybe, together, we can figure it out.)

So, listen…here’s what I want to say.

Your worth isn’t made through your accomplishments.

Right?? Did you hear that??? Should I say it again???

Your worth isn’t made through your accomplishments.

Your work. Your house. Your weight. Your salary. Your well-rounded kids. Your perfect family. Your bendy body. Your homemade sour dough bread.

I suppose those are important…

But your worth won’t be changed a bit. It’s already yours. Full. Complete. Whole.

You are loved and adored. You are valuable and worthy. Simply because you are YOU…and you are HIS.

You don’t have to do it ALLLLLL. You are free to just be you. Show up exactly as you are. With your own unique giftedness.

Isn’t that amazing???

If we could remember that, wouldn’t that be a breath of fresh air every morning??

We are free to move through life cheering for other women—noticing their accomplishments and being genuinely happy without comparison or striving or attempting to keep up, able to step out of the race to do it ALL, and just doing what we were created to do. Being who we were created to be.

Our worth isn’t made through our accomplishments.

I need the reminder often. And I get that reminder by checking in with prayer. Keeping my eyes on who I AM. And doing the jobs I’ve been given to do today.

Our worth isn’t made through our accomplishments.

We are all already worthy, just as we are. So, I’ll do ME. You do YOU.

I’ll be over here cheering for us ALL!
