Prepared for a Savior

All month I’ve been doing a little here and there.

One thing at a time to prepare…

The tree.

The decorations.

The cookies.

The shopping.

The teacher gifts.

The cleaning.

The wrapping.

But these next couple of days are where the rubber meets the road.

The home-stretch.

The final lap.

The last leg.

Because the next couple of days will be crammed with all the final little details…

Those last few gifts to wrap.

That last batch of cookies to leave for Santa.

Those last few stocking stuffers to buy.

The last trip to the store for Christmas morning cinnamon rolls and Christmas day dinner.

And “You guys! We haven’t watched Christmas Vacation yet!!”

These next few days are usually when I get a little overwhelmed and start to think I might be over it all!!

But this is CHRISTMAS! The season of perpetual Hope!!! And I don’t want to be ‘over it’ at all.

So, I’ve decided I’m adding a few more To Do’s to the list.

I’m going to sleep a little more.

Laugh a little more.

Eat a little more.

Read a little more (and probably write a little, too).

Pray a little more.

Just BE a little more.

I’m going to notice and breathe it in and choose JOY.

I’m going to declare a job well done (even if a few things are left undone).

And I’m going to prepare my heart for the coming of a Savior.

Merry Christmas!
