Enough Already

I am not enough, actuallly. Not by the world’s standards. Though we hear it all the time, right?

YOU’RE ENOUGH!

YOU’RE ENOUGH AS A HOT MESS MOM!

YOU’RE ENOUGH WITH THOSE DIMPLED THIGHS!

YOU’RE ENOUGH IN YOUR DIRTY KITCHEN!

YOU’RE ENOUGH!!!

I inhale the familiar childhood smell of the water hose as rays of warm sun begin to bake my shoulders and a pair of hummingbirds squeak and chase and flit over my head. And I just FEEL loved.

In tiny glimpses, it ALL feels like enough.

My life. This hard, broken world. My family. Me, even.

I can almost hear a whisper across the breeze,

My darling, you are enough for Me.

And that is enough for me.
